Description

Mito Repair contains SS-31 (Elamipretide/Bendavia), a synthetic mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide engineered to protect and restore mitochondrial function. Its amino acid sequence, D-Arg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH₂ (where Dmt = 2,6-dimethyltyrosine), enables the peptide to penetrate cells and selectively accumulate within the inner mitochondrial membrane.

By supporting mitochondrial integrity and energy production, SS-31 is designed to help protect cells from oxidative stress while promoting improved cellular performance and recovery.

Mechanism of Action

SS-31 selectively binds to cardiolipin, a phospholipid unique to the inner mitochondrial membrane that is essential for efficient energy production. This interaction helps maintain mitochondrial structure and function by:

• Protecting cardiolipin from oxidative damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS)
• Preserving the function of electron transport chain complexes, particularly Complexes I, III, and IV
• Reducing mitochondrial oxidative stress and limiting cytochrome c release
• Maintaining mitochondrial membrane potential and preserving cristae architecture
• Helping prevent opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP)
• Supporting ATP production and overall mitochondrial bioenergetic efficiency

Due to its unique molecular structure, SS-31 preferentially concentrates within mitochondria, providing targeted antioxidant protection while preserving normal cellular redox balance.

Contraindications & Warnings

Dosage & Administration

For subcutaneous injection only.

Standard Dose

• 5 mg (22 clicks) per injection

Lower Dose

• 3 mg (13 clicks) for maintenance or individuals requiring a more conservative protocol

Frequency

• 2–3 injections weekly (for example Monday/Wednesday/Friday or around training and recovery days)

Recommended Timing

• Morning or prior to physical activity to support energy production and recovery

Suggested Cycle

• 4-12 weeks of use followed by a 4-week break

Optional Loading Protocol

• Weeks 1-4: 5 mg three times weekly
• Thereafter: Reduce to twice weekly or once weekly for maintenance

Administration Instructions

1. Wash your hands and prepare a clean working area.
2. Attach a new sterile needle.
3. Dial the required number of clicks (22 clicks = 5 mg).
4. Clean the injection site (abdomen or thigh) using an alcohol swab.
5. Insert the needle at a 45-90° angle and inject slowly.
6. Remove the needle, dispose of it safely, and replace the pen cap.
7. Rotate injection sites with each use to minimize irritation.
8. Inspect the solution before every injection. Do not use if it appears cloudy, discoloured, or contains visible particles.

SS-31 has generally demonstrated a favourable safety profile in clinical and preclinical research. Reported side effects are typically mild and temporary and may include:

• Mild redness, itching, or irritation at the injection site
• Temporary headache or light-headedness
• Short-term fatigue or fluctuations in energy levels during early use

Discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider if severe or persistent symptoms develop, including chest pain, severe headache, or signs of an allergic reaction.

Storage & Handling

• Store refrigerated or in a cool, dry place (25-30°C maximum).
• Do not freeze.
• Keep the pen capped and protected from excessive heat and direct light.
• Continue storing under the same conditions after first use.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not use after the expiry date or if the solution appears abnormal.
